Clayton honors Civitan Mighty Comets after unbeaten season

The Town of Clayton took time during its Dec. 11 meeting to honor the Clayton Civitan Mighty Comets, the 2025 East Wake Football League Super Bowl champions, and the Clayton Civitan cheerleaders.
Councilmember Porter Casey introduced the recognition and called coach Justin Calhoun to the podium. Calhoun, who said he was born and raised in Clayton and played in the program, thanked the council and sponsors, praised the players and parents, and said the program focuses on community and discipline. He noted there were 38 players on the team and emphasized that each child contributed throughout the season.
The council and attendees gathered for photos and congratulated the team.
