HARFORD COUNTY, Md. — The Harford County Board of Education voted 7–2 on Oct. 6 to approve its consent agenda, which included committee appointments and several contract awards.
A board member proposed an amendment to cap individual purchases at $500,000 and require board review when that cap was reached, but another board member (Wade) moved to approve the consent agenda "as stated originally," and Carol seconded. In a roll-call vote the board recorded yes votes from Missus Perry, Mr. Sewell, Dr. Miller, Mr. McVicker, Ms. Bruce, Vice President Page and President Boynton; Mr. Korn and Mrs. Hahn voted no. The clerk announced the motion passed 7 to 2.
Items listed on the consent agenda and read aloud included citizen advisory committee membership for 2025–26 and multiple contract awards for generator system service and maintenance, architectural and engineering services, parks-and-recreation engineering, HVAC solutions, athletic supplies and other routine procurement items.
In his superintendent's report, the superintendent (referred to in the transcript with variant spellings) reiterated reminders about AP exam registration and magnet-program open houses starting Oct. 15, promoted an Oct. 18 HCRAS 5K at HarfTech, recognized October as National School Principals Month and noted nominations remain open for bus driver and attendant of the year.
