Staff presented a Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLS) allocation of $627,000, of which $617,000 goes to the sheriff’s office and $10,000 to the prosecutor’s office for continuing professional education and agency-specific training requirements. The committee accepted the allocation.
Public-health staff (Kate) described an MDHHS amendment adding about $495,000 in regional lab funding for instrumentation and reagents to perform t-spot testing for tuberculosis in-house and partial chemical testing of water. Kate also presented Amendment #6 to an interlocal agreement with the Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) for substance-use disorder prevention services: OCHN provides $163,798 toward a ~$178,178 program budget with a required county match of 10% ($16,380) to fund two public-health educators for middle-school tobacco and vaping education and safe medication disposal programs. Each grant/amendment was approved by the committee.
