Franklin Parks and Recreation asked Johnson County commissioners Feb. 9 to accommodate the 'Cruising the Amp' event on June 6, 2026, by moving vehicles in the north end of the county parking lot to the south end and permitting a small adjacent lot for a touch‑a‑truck activation. Holly Johnson, representing Franklin Parks and Recreation, said vehicles need only be moved by the morning of June 6 and that staff would coordinate with a nearby business owner about use of the lot.
Johnson said the Parks Department would sign a county hold‑harmless agreement for use of county property. Commissioners asked about generator placement for July 3 fireworks and discussed timing so event vehicles are not staged early. One commissioner moved to approve the events as described; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board’s approval authorized staff to implement the requested parking adjustments and directed Parks staff to provide any required hold‑harmless documentation to county risk management before the events.
The event approval does not modify other permit or licensing rules that may apply to vendors or vendors' activities on the day of the event.
