The Jefferson Parish Council on Sept. 17 approved Amendment No. 1 to the parish's contract with Deloitte & Touche LLP to provide professional accounting services and staffing support related to a planned enterprise-resource planning (ERP) transition.
The amendment as adopted revises the contract language to define scope for financial and program support staffing tied to management's implementation of the new ERP and sets a cap in the amendment text at $8,200,000. During discussion the preamble language was amended (removing the word "annual") and the cap figure in the amendment was revised from an initial $8,500,000 to $8,200,000, which the council adopted (SEG 1812–1827, 1834–1839).
Chief Operating Officer Steve LeChute and staff described the ERP move as a necessary modernization from an older AS/400 system to a new platform that will require extensive data-cleanup and outside support. LeChute said the parish has received hundreds of millions in grant funding in recent years and that data carried over from prior administrations requires cleanup before launching the new system (SEG 420–451).
Council action approved the amended language and the contract amendment as ordered; the transcript records the motion by Councilwoman Van Brecken and adoption without recorded opposition.
Next steps: the parish will continue transition work with Deloitte, pursue required data-cleanup tasks, and proceed with audits and phased ERP implementation. The amendment increases available contracted support for implementation and staffing during the transition period.
