County staff presented a proposed purchase agreement for 70 East Silverdome Industrial Park, Pontiac, at a purchase price of $3,900,000. Harrison Yaldo, commercial real estate broker, and Rob Seeley, manager of Emergency Management, described the site as proximate to existing county assets and appropriate for housing emergency management vehicles, command posts and storage.
Staff said the proposed timeline would close on or about April 1 and take possession no later than April 15 in order to align with the county’s existing lease at Pike Street, which expires April 30. The purchase agreement includes a due‑diligence period for environmental and building assessments; the county’s corporation counsel prepared the contract and included an ability to cancel if due diligence reveals issues that fail county standards.
Initial improvements such as IT and security costs would be paid from the strategic initiative fund, with longer‑term financing to be handled through bond authority. Commissioners confirmed that neighboring parcels include WRC/utility land and praised locating Emergency Management near other county operations. The committee voted 6–0 to recommend the purchase to finance.
