Board votes to ask county for immediate funding of safety and security CIP items

The board held a roll-call vote and the motion passed; several trustees abstained and staff were asked to prepare two lists: the original and a reordered list that assumes the safety carve-out succeeds.
Board members asked staff to engage with the county executive and county government on feasibility, to confirm procurement timelines and to return with refined project lists. Staff said the local request is for FY27 (funds available July 1) and that an additional FY26 supplemental request would be needed for immediate funding; the county and council would still need to approve any supplemental funding.
Vote (recorded by roll call at the meeting): motion to request immediate county funding for identified safety/security projects outcome: approved; recorded roll-call responses on the record included multiple "yes" votes and several abstentions. Staff will return with a reworked CIP list at the Dec. 15 meeting and set up small-group briefings for trustees who requested additional detail.
