On Feb. 10 the Eddy County Commission approved several procurement and facilities actions during routine business.
IFB 25-06: Staff recommended and the commission approved a multi-source award for hose, ladder and vehicle testing to two responsive bidders, Fire Co LLC and High Plains Fire Services LLC. The county described the procurement as a multi-award to ensure service availability across the jurisdiction.
Time‑clock replacement: Staff presented a requested replacement of 17 existing Kronos biometric fingerprint clocks with InTouch DX clocks (facial recognition) after vendor notice that older units will no longer be serviced as of Sept. 2026. Staff said license costs per employee remain unchanged and hardware per-unit cost is slightly lower (staff cited roughly $160 per new clock vs. $189 for the old model). The commission approved the purchase as budgeted.
Otis gym roof: Facilities staff reported vendor assessments showing extensive seam and puncture damage to the Otis gym roof and recommended full replacement. The presented cost was $178,570 (budgeted). A commissioner representing the district emphasized community usage of the facility. The commission approved the replacement.
Lodgers-tax advertising: Staff reported quarter-two Lodgers Tax collections and said the Lodgers Tax Board approved a plan to buy billboard and airport advertising in target markets (El Paso, Albuquerque, Hobbs and West Texas locations) to promote county events. Estimated ad spend discussed was about $38,000–$40,000. The commission approved the recommended advertising approach.
