Mayor Seinen lists tax-prep help, community events and library meeting; chief administrator updates Duff Park restrooms

Mayor Seinen used the meeting’s mayoral report to share a set of community announcements and public-service items. The mayor said AARP tax-preparation appointments are available by appointment only (phone: 374-8176) at the Murrysville Community Center on Carson Avenue with remaining dates March 28 and April 11; walk-up service is not accepted.

Other announcements included studio mini dance classes for ages 2–5 (Tuesdays, March 11–April 15, fee $108), Murrysville Cleanup Week (April 7–12) with Pleasant Valley Landfill drop-off dates (April 1–11 weekdays and April 12 Saturday hours) and the Joey Gombosch Fishing Derby at Townsend Park for children up to age 15 (April 5). The County Sheriff’s Office will host a satellite license center at the Murrysville municipal building on Sardis Road on March 20; applicants must bring a completed application, a PA driver’s license or photo ID and a $20 payment payable to Sheriff James Albert; the meeting record notes concealed permits will be mailed 5–10 business days after approval and will not be printed on-site.

The mayor also promoted a Murrysville Community Library event on April 10 at 7 p.m. to welcome the new library director, Kat Neidig, and to allow the public to meet library supporters in an informal setting.

Chief administrator Michael updated council on the Duff Park restroom project, noting concrete was poured recently and work continues with an expected spring completion. Michael also said two items will be scheduled for public hearing at the April council meeting: a Verizon cell tower application and a Mr. Handyman parking-lot matter on Route 22.

The council moved from these reports into liaison updates and action items without public comment during the community input period at this meeting.
