"It is a true honor to stand before you today as we celebrate the incredible accomplishments of the cadets who have successfully completed the Pennsauken Junior Police Academy," Rafay said, congratulating the participants and their instructors for a job well done. She also said Mayor Nikki Roberts could not attend but "sends her heartfelt congratulations to the cadets and instructors."
Rafay outlined the program's activities, saying cadets took on early-morning physical training, learned marching, and participated in hands-on sessions with multiple public-safety units. She credited local police officers, the fire department, EMS professionals, the Camden County Sheriff's Office bomb squad and SWAT team, prosecutors and a high-tech crimes unit with providing instruction and demonstrations. "You've had a rare opportunity to train with and learn from the best," she said.
Rafay described specific demonstrations and skills the cadets experienced, including canine demonstrations, instruction in handcuffing and taser deployment, vehicle operations and academic testing. She said the weeklong program offered experiences "that most people your age have never seen up close," and that it helped build respect for first responders and an understanding of the discipline and responsibility that come with public-safety work.
She thanked instructors and public-safety professionals for their time and mentorship, calling their commitment "what makes Pennsauken truly special." Rafay closed by telling cadets that "your community is proud of you" and urging them to carry forward leadership and service.
There were no formal votes or motions recorded during the ceremony; the event consisted of remarks and recognition.
