The Tuscaloosa City Council on Monday cleared a broad consent agenda and voted to authorize several contracts, a recycling cooperative agreement and a grant application, and an amendment to the fiscal year 2026 budget.
Clerk reports summarized dozens of routine items (consent items a–y), which the council adopted after a motion and second. The council approved authorization to execute a cooperative agreement tied to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) West Alabama recycling program and separately authorized submission of a 2027 grant application for that program.
The council also authorized a contract with Evoqua Water Technologies LLC and approved multiple minor public-works contracts and professional-services agreements or amendments, including awards or amendments involving Green Acres Landscape Services LLC, Amason and Associates Incorporated, Patrick Allen Companies LLC, Herndon Hicks and Associates Incorporated, 49 Degrees LLC, Davis Architects, and engineering amendments for Jack Warner Parkway and Cypress Creek drainage improvements.
Clerk also presented authorization to execute a railroad review services agreement with CPKC, which the council approved.
Officer Champion of the Tuscaloosa Police Department said the department had no objections to the special-events retail license applications for Downtown Social LLC; Bill Wright, the applicant, introduced himself to answer questions. The council approved those license applications.
On finance items, the council adopted amendment number 6 to the FY2026 general fund reserve for future improvements and authorized payment of bills. The council also introduced and adopted several municipal code amendments and set March 10, 2026 as the public hearing date to consider adoption of zoning amendment number 28.
What this means: Most items approved at the meeting were routine authorizations and contract awards that allow city departments to proceed with procurement, project design, and grant-seeking. The recycling cooperative agreement and grant application will move forward under ADEM procedures; procurement and contract implementation will proceed through the appropriate city departments.
