Staff outlines comprehensive plan baseline analysis and outreach strategy

Administrator Barry updated the Planning Commission on the comprehensive plan process, saying the consultant Stantec provided a baseline analysis and staff is preparing community engagement.
"Our consultant, Stantec, provided a baseline analysis report that was provided to you," Barry said. He encouraged commissioners to review the deliverable and submit edits by email and said staff will produce a schedule, a website, and QR-code surveys to reach residents.
Barry outlined outreach tactics: pop-up events at existing gatherings (community-center activities and worship services), focus groups targeted at Latino residents, businesses and developers, and a larger public workshop later in the process. He said staff will coordinate with local schools to solicit high-school input.
Commissioner Petak asked about lead time and whether volunteers could help lead focus groups; Barry said he would discuss volunteer participation with the consultant. Commissioners suggested using school newsletters and existing events to reach parents and residents.
Barry said staff will finalize dates and share the schedule with the commission once it is set.
