Stephens County commissioners approved a conditional site plan allowing Legacy Management LLC to use a parcel at 15 June's Way in East Denali for a firearms and ammunition manufacturing business and an associated shooting range, the board said during their regular meeting.
The board previously granted conditional approval for the business and range in December, contingent on submission of a site plan meeting the board's qualifications. At the meeting, staff presented the submitted site plan and told commissioners it conforms with the required third-party standards. "That site plan has been prepared and it's now in front of you for review and potential approval," a staff member said.
A board member moved to approve the conditional use of the parcel for zoning and planning purposes, with the explicit caveat that the plan must be built in accordance with the third-party standards and that the board was not certifying the range itself but approving the land use. The motion was seconded and the board voted in favor.
Commissioner Oglesby and other members thanked staff and applicants for their work on the plan during the discussion. No public testimony or objections were recorded in the meeting transcript. The board's approval preserves the board's prior condition that the range and manufacturing operations meet the specified standards before full certification or operation.
