Park Board approves Easter eggs, DJ and snow-play purchases; memorial committee formed

At its meeting, the Haslet Park Board approved several event and maintenance expenditures and created a memorial committee.

Minutes and financials: The board approved the January 14 minutes and the financials as presented after a motion and second; the chair declared the motion passed.

Easter eggs: Members approved purchasing 26,000 prefilled Easter eggs. A motion to purchase 26,000 eggs for $3,510 was moved and seconded by Cindy; the motion passed.

DJ package: Cindy moved to contract a DJ for Easter, National Night Out and Christmas in the Park for $1,300; Larry seconded. After clarifying the quoted number, the board voted to approve the $1,300 package.

Snow play area: Staff reported a vendor price increase for the 10-foot snow slide and additional snow area; after discussion of staffing and vendor mileage, the board approved a motion for $11,010 to cover a 10-foot slide, a snow area and transportation.

Memorial committee: The board formally created a memorial/military committee to represent memorial and military events and collaborate with the VFW. Appointed members named included Chuck and Cindy; the committee was established to meet outside regular board meetings.

Tree ornaments: The board reviewed an estimate from Mosca Design to replace approximately 220 ornaments for the 22-foot commercial tree at $2,800 (shipping estimated up to $600) and approved spending up to $3,000 to replace the set of ornaments.
