Summary
At a public hearing, county staff reported two New York State CDBG contracts are complete: Solitude Brewing Company received $135,000 and reported 30 hires (projected 20); Big Tree Inn received $100,000 and reported 11 hires (projected 7); both met program caps and will be closed out.
County economic development staff reported at a public hearing that two New York State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) contracts have met their obligations and are ready for contract closeout.
Maureen Brewer told the board the first contract, awarded on April 16, 2024, provided $135,000 to CB Hassler LLC doing business as Solitude Brewing Company to purchase machinery and equipment; the project exceeded hiring targets, adding 30 jobs compared with an initial projection of 20. “This project demonstrated high efficiency representing less than 15% of total project budget,” Brewer said.
The second contract, awarded on Jan. 23, 2025, provided $100,000 to A & J Hospitality Ventures doing business as Big Tree Inn for working capital, including rent, inventory and payroll. Brewer said the project exceeded its hiring target, creating 11 jobs compared with a projection of seven. She noted CDBG program rules cap participation at 40% of total investment and that both companies remained within that limit.
Brewer said both companies have fulfilled agreement terms and that county economic development staff will proceed with final monitoring and contract closeout following this hearing. The public hearing record will be included with closeout documentation.
The companies and amounts named in the hearing appear in the county record; the board did not receive substantive public objection to these specific contract closeouts during the hearing.
