The Jonas Charter Board approved the 2026–27 comprehensive school safety plan on Feb. 9 after staff explained the document was updated to incorporate recent legislative requirements and a new template.
Presenters said the revised plan is more detailed than prior versions and explicitly documents procedures for a range of emergencies, including evacuation actions for an active shooter and cardiac arrest response protocols. The plan also references existing board policies on harassment, immigration, child-abuse reporting and others to align operational response with policy expectations. Staff noted the safety plan was reviewed with principals and the facilities manager to ensure it matches on-campus practices; they also said the safety plan in the packet is not a public document.
Board members had no substantive amendments and approved the plan by roll call. Staff will implement the plan across campuses and continue coordination with site leadership and facilities staff.
The approved plan replaces the previous-year safety plan and is available to board members and designated staff per the district’s document-handling procedures.
