At its Jan. 5 meeting Jefferson County commissioners approved a range of procurement and personnel items in a grouped series of motions.
Elections: The board approved precinct polling locations for 2026. Staff listed 22 precincts including the Jefferson County Courthouse for absentee/early voting; commissioners voted to adopt the locations.
Procurements and equipment: The board approved a crushing contract with Brent Price Excavating for aggregate production: 15,000 tons of 5/8" aggregate base at $6.85/ton ($102,750), about 15,000 tons of 3/4" at $5.85/ton ($87,750), plus $4,000 mobilization for a total of $194,500. Commissioners also awarded an HVAC/heater contract for overhead/shop heaters to PhD Plumbing for $16,305.30 (low bid); other bids mentioned were Foster Mechanical at $35,500 and a higher Wiemer Heating & Air Conditioning bid that included a furnace option.
Fleet: County staff presented truck quotes from multiple dealers and recommended a dually LT trim from Smith’s. The board approved the purchase; the price recorded in the meeting transcript was stated as "$61.09 80" (discussed as the Smith’s LT figure). The transcript indicates unanimous approval by roll call; exact numeric formatting in the transcript appeared inconsistent and should be confirmed with the county purchase order.
Personnel and records: The board approved new and revised job descriptions (office assistant/applicator and applicator operator level 1) including an applicator level that allows hiring at age 17 with supervision limitations. The board also adopted Resolution 2026-10 authorizing destruction of certain paper payroll and personnel records that met retention schedules under Idaho Code §31-8-71. Commissioners voted to enter then exit executive session to discuss personnel matters and stated no action was taken following the closed session.
Each motion was moved, seconded and approved by roll call during the meeting; the county clerk and staff will follow up on signatures, contract execution and any necessary purchase orders.
