County staff said the agreement is a renewal of a contract originally drafted in 2018 and that Jessica and county counsel reviewed edits before the contractor accepted the terms. "This is the contract with our commercial appraiser," a staff member said when presenting the agreement, and commissioners discussed that the increase reflects current workload and commercial growth.
The county noted a ceiling amount for the contract in the fiscal year 2026 budget; staff said that ceiling will be reviewed annually and adjusted if commercial growth increases appraisal demand. The board approved the motion by roll call.
The county did not provide a detailed tally of anticipated parcels subject to the higher rate; commissioners asked staff to monitor costs and bring adjustments to the board if spending approaches the budgeted ceiling.
