Andover selectmen approve reappointments, event permits and schedule changes; budget work continues

The Andover Board of Selectmen met Feb. 9 and handled routine appointments, event permits and scheduling while moving major operational items to follow‑up meetings.
The board unanimously approved library board reappointments and other committee appointments by voice vote. It moved the town budget meeting from Wednesday, April 8 to Thursday, April 9 and voted to reschedule a joint meeting with the Board of Finance to avoid conflicts with Board of Education scheduling.
The board also approved an event permit for the Hopin’ Hoppin’ Hodges 5K and authorized a pilot firewood exchange area at the transfer station (pending public works approval); both votes passed on unanimous voice votes. Members discussed snow and ice concerns for trail use and noted the event organizer’s history of donations to town projects.
Treasurer Lisa Jablonski presented a draft budget spreadsheet intended to align the Board of Finance and Selectmen data. Members emphasized the Senior/Community Center and capital projects (including engineering funding for the Percy Cook Trail) as priorities during departmental budget reviews. The chair said the board will coordinate departmental budget reviews with the Board of Finance and consider timing that avoids conflicts with other town meetings.
The meeting moved into executive session to discuss the town administrator interview process and returned to adjourn at 9:08 p.m.
