Jefferson County approves juvenile justice financial and probation reports after staff presentation

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Idaho — Nov. 3, 2025 — Jefferson County commissioners heard a report on juvenile justice operations and finances and approved both the annual financial report and the county probation report for the year ending Sept. 30.
Tammy, a county staff member overseeing juvenile services, summarized caseload and program data, saying the county has about 43 adult formals and roughly 10 diversions for a total caseload near 53. She told commissioners the county received $142,911 from the state (juvenile corrections and tobacco/lottery funds) and outlined how those funds are tracked in county accounts.
Tammy described challenges securing meaningful community-service projects for juveniles in a small county and said the office is pursuing restorative approaches, such as victim-restoration circles, instead of large group community-service projects that have been difficult to sustain. She also outlined detention and operating expenses and recidivism reporting windows (6, 12 and 24 months) used by the state.
After discussion, a commissioner moved to approve the juvenile justice annual financial report and the board approved it by roll call. A separate motion to accept the Jefferson juvenile probation report (Oct. 2024—9/30/2025) was also moved, seconded and adopted by roll call.
What this means: The approvals accept the staff's fiscal accounting and program reporting for the period cited; no policy changes were adopted and no hiring decisions were announced during the presentation.
