The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners approved a series of homeowner-exemption tax cancellations, authorized the payment of county claims, and passed a resolution to transfer weed funds.
Treasurer Christine Lund told the board the assessor had prepared a large list of homeowner-exemption cancellations arising after the abstract due to recent legislative changes; commissioners moved through the list and approved each cancellation by motion and roll call. The motions covered multiple parcel numbers and small refund amounts; the board recorded a cumulative total of $11,588.33 for the cancellations presented at this session.
Separately, commissioners approved commissioner claims for Oct. 11–Oct. 24, 2025 (two different budget years) with a total of $537,687.28; the motion was moved, seconded and passed on roll call. During discussion a commissioner asked staff to follow up on an internal transfer referenced in the minutes to confirm the transferred amount matched what was authorized.
The board also considered and approved Resolution No. 2026-06 to transfer $80,000 from the weed trust fund (account 913603970) to the weed fund (authorizing fund transfer 270370). The chair read and the board voted to authorize the transfer and asked staff to verify accounts and report back if any discrepancy appeared.
The meeting included additional routine items: approval of certificates of residency for local students attending regional colleges and approval of minutes from the Oct. 20 session. With the financial items approved, commissioners adjourned the meeting.
