Franklin Special District board grants tenure to 19 teachers

The Franklin Special District board voted unanimously to grant tenure to 19 teachers after receiving recommendations from principals and a presentation by Director of Schools Dr. Snowden.

Dr. Snowden introduced the tenure slate and played videos in which principals described each teacher’s classroom practices and contributions. Multiple principals and school leaders spoke in support, citing sustained instructional effectiveness and service to students and school communities. "Ms. Hagan has consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching, professionalism, and dedication to student success," one recommender said during remarks describing a recommended teacher’s strengths.

Board members moved to approve the recommendation and conducted a roll‑call vote. The motion passed; the board chair announced, "Then teachers, you are approved for tenure." The board did not record any opposing or abstaining votes during the roll call.

The tenured teachers named on the recommendation list included (as presented to the board) Angela Hagan; Sondra Martin; Rachel Kofheimer; Christine McNutt; Lisa Beard; Christine Caminiti; Kelly Lee; Kim Stinson; Jody Suggs; Takia Easley; Carissa Stinson; Drew Aaron; Erin (surname referenced in remarks as "Mr. Erin"); Bondarenko; Samantha Carney; Elizabeth Gallaher; Melissa Graham; Philip Thomas; and Whitney Rushing. Board materials presented at the meeting listed 19 total recommended teachers.

The board invited the newly tenured teachers to come forward for a group photograph and offered public congratulations. No follow‑up motions or conditions were attached to the approval; the action was a confirmation of the personnel recommendations forwarded by school leadership.
