Audit staff refile Southeast Arkansas, SAU Tech reports; committee defers NWACC report

Legislative audit staff told the committee that two community college audit reports on the agenda — Southeast Arkansas College and Southern Arkansas University Tech (SAU Tech) — included misstatements in financial statements that college personnel corrected during audit fieldwork. SAU Tech also reported unauthorized withdrawals that the college discovered and later recovered.
Staff recommended the committee refile those reports as reviewed; the committee, without objection, accepted the recommendation and refiled the reports. The committee also voted without objection to defer the report for Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) for additional follow up and referral.
Legislative audit staff closed the meeting after the filings and deferrals and thanked campus and system officials for answering members’ questions.
