Planning Chairman Pettis Reid urged commissioners and residents to attend a public open house on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Lane Agricenter to review the final draft of the county’s comprehensive plan, Plan Rutherford. "This is an opportunity for you to come out and see our draft copy of what the comprehensive plan is going to look like," Reid said, adding the session will include maps and displays and is intended to be family-friendly (SEG 199–211, SEG 221–231).
Reid said the draft reflects more than two years of public outreach and review and described the meeting as the "final opportunity for public input before the final is put together and presented to the planning commission and then to the full commission." He encouraged commissioners to attend and to invite residents, noting the meeting will include food trucks and activities for children (SEG 215–226, SEG 261–266).
The county’s planning staff will use comments from the open house to finalize the plan for referral to the Planning Commission and eventual presentation to the full Board of Commissioners for adoption; Reid emphasized the county is "in the home stretch" of the process (SEG 261–269).
