Teton County commissioners on Oct. 15 held a public hearing and approved a FY25 ‘‘budget opening’’ to add unanticipated revenue and remaining cash into several funds.
County staff told the board the largest adjustment is a $767,075 increase to the General Fund to cover an HVAC repair at the Law Enforcement Center, a legal settlement and employee bonuses. The board also approved a $132,500 increase in the road and bridge special levy to acquire a chip spreader and the use of $15,004.25 in Sheriff Facilities impact fees for Search & Rescue building work.
The hearing drew no public comment. After staff described the changes and why they were necessary, a commissioner moved to approve the budget opening as presented and the motion carried unanimously.
The county’s practice is to open the budget late in the fiscal year if additional cash or unexpected revenue requires formal appropriation before year end. Staff said the adjustments are intended to prevent overspending in departments at year‑end and to make capital and settlement expenditures lawful under county accounting rules.
The board’s approval authorizes staff to record the transfers and increases in the FY25 accounting ledgers; staff will return with documentation for the record and incorporate the line‑item changes into the final annual report.
