FAYETTEVILLE — The Fayetteville City Council on Thursday accepted staff’s update on renovation plans for the Blue Street Senior Center and the Office of Community Safety (OCS).
Staff reported the project includes interior renovations to the upper building (about 6,000 square feet) and minor work in the lower building and parking area. City staff said design contracting is nearly complete and that construction drawings will be taken to market for bidding once finished. The council was told the renovation is estimated to cost about $800,000 and that funding for the project has been allocated from the FY26 OCS operating budget.
John Jones, director for the Office of Community Safety, said the space will support OCS’s four pillars and provide community space and program capacity as the office expands staffing and services. Council discussion noted the city’s broader goal to move departments out of leased space and into city-owned buildings where feasible.
Council members received the report and approved moving forward with the project scope and budget as described. Staff will return with construction drawings and bid information as the design is finalized.
