Sydney Skaldon, administrative assistant in the Warrick County vital records office, presented January figures: the office issued 558 birth certificates and 538 death certificates and recorded 265 births in the county for the month, with most mothers in their 20s and 30s. "We issued a total of 558 birth certificates last month, 538 death certificates," Skaldon said.
Skaldon reported 96 deaths in the county in January, including one child death; she said she did not have a full cause breakdown available at the meeting but could add coroner data if the board wanted that level of detail. "If you want us to start reporting that, then you can," Skaldon said.
Board members urged staff to watch for age‑specific trends, including any increase in cancer incidence among younger adults, and to bring findings back to the board so staff can consider targeted screening outreach. Dr. Curry asked staff to report unusual patterns in age‑group breakdowns and recommended heightened screening or outreach if trends emerge.
The statistics and requests were accepted for informational follow up; no formal action was taken at the meeting.
