Octorara Area SD previews $5M HVAC grant request, hires, resignations and facilities plans

Speaker 1 read agenda item (a), which would authorize the district to request a Public School Facilities Improvement Grant of $5,000,000 from the Commonwealth Financing Authority to pay for HVAC upgrades at the high school. Item (b) would approve procurement of Schneider Electric under the TIPS master agreement (contract 220104) for an investment-grade audit and grant support services. Speaker 5 said Snyder Electric would prepare mechanical drawings for the middle-school HVAC work for $12,000 and assist with the grant application; the district match requirement was described as 25% of project cost.
Personnel items on the agenda include accepting several resignations for the purpose of retirement, approving nonrenewal of a coach contract, and hiring a new school counselor, Amy Razi, at a prorated salary of $65,237 pending completion of required employment documents. Speakers also read salary-scale changes for staff (example: Helena Talley moving from M+30 at $75,707 to M+45 at $78,926) and supplemental contracts for the 2025–26 school year (Raven McCoy listed as junior high assistant girls basketball coach at four points of $620 each for $2,480 total; Nicole Kutner listed at three points for $1,860 total).
Facilities items included discussion of phase 2 of athletic fields, with priority options to add stadium turf and create a multiuse turf area across from the baseball field to accommodate baseball and softball, and an agreement with Fireman Control Systems Inc. to review safety data sheets for chemicals used on campus. A pre-doc estimate for water-treatment repairs was listed at $7,350.
