The Town of Somerset Council voted to approve a building permit application for 4904 Falstone during its Feb. 3 meeting.
Town staff reported Montgomery County had issued permits in November 2024 and the town’s former building permit administrator reviewed and found the project complied with town code. Grant Salar, a registered architect representing the project, said the work is mostly interior, with a 48-inch retaining wall to create a new walkout basement entrance, an additional HVAC unit near two existing units, and a temporary dumpster on site during construction. Staff noted tree protection plans were drafted and that work was expected to start in early February with an estimated completion in June 2025.
Council members asked technical questions about the retaining wall and the HVAC installation (sound testing was discussed for the HVAC placement) before a motion to approve the permit was moved and carried without recorded opposition.
Next steps: staff will proceed with permit processing and monitoring of required tree protection and county permit compliance.
