The Powhatan County School Board cleared a set of routine and grant items in a series of unanimous votes.
The board accepted the consent agenda, which included donations to athletics and programs (detailed donor list and amounts announced by staff). S3 made the motion to accept the consent agenda, which passed 5‑0.
On the business docket, the board approved second readings of updated policies (minor edits and removal of COVID‑era language), the student fees schedule on second reading, and the presented summer school dates for the 2025‑26 calendar. Each motion passed on voice vote with no opposition.
The board also approved the appointment of Jordan Schellen to the School Health Committee through 2027 after S9 introduced the candidate and the board voted in favor.
Appropriations for two grants were approved: a one‑time federal STEM event grant for $5,000 to support a STEM expo at the high school, and a state Mathematics Acceleration Grant for $3,500 to cover Praxis testing fees for seven teachers and summer AP institute attendance for two teachers. Both grants were approved unanimously.
The board recorded these actions as part of the meeting record and will include them in consent and budget materials available with the official minutes.
