Clinton County seeks approval to replace 911 consoles and carpeting with Zybex equipment

Jonathan Plessinger, director of Clinton County Department of Emergency Services, told commissioners on Feb. 9 that the county seeks approval to replace aging 911 console furniture and carpeting in the county’s dispatch center.
Plessinger said some consoles are 10 to 15 years old and new console furniture from manufacturer Zybex would improve ergonomics for dispatchers who work 12-hour shifts. "These new console furnitures will allow them to stand, adjust the screens forward or back for their liking," Plessinger said, adding that the upgrades will help vision and comfort during long shifts. Installation is planned for April and is expected to take about two weeks using a phased approach so dispatch operations can continue.
Plessinger said the county intends to reuse the replaced furniture at its backup center at the prison and move one console into the Emergency Operations Center so staff can fully operate multiple screens during activations; he noted the consoles currently support up to eight screens per workstation.
Plessinger also said the vendor will produce a video after the project, which he described as a public-relations benefit for both the vendor and Clinton County emergency services. No formal purchase vote was recorded at the work session; the item was presented for consideration at the upcoming legislative meeting.
