City opens RFP for end‑of‑pier concession; playground RFQ work underway

Staff noted the city is evaluating potential concession operators and expects to return to the commission with recommendations after the procurement process.
Commissioners asked whether the pier concession could include alcohol service; staff replied that allowing alcohol would require Coastal Commission review, ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) requirements and possibly fenced‑off service areas, and that staff would seek council direction before pursuing alcohol service.
