Tanya Fonseca of the Department of City Development told the committee the change would make CPC practice consistent with other bodies and bring the mailing requirement into the zoning code (chapter 295). Sponsors said community groups had requested expanded notification so residents receive earlier notice of changes that affect their neighborhoods.
Alderman Stamper and other sponsors said they would have preferred a larger radius but accepted 250 feet as a budget-feasible step. The committee ordered recommendation of the substitute files by unanimous consent.
