Centre County to add American Tower lease addendum for Rock Run site to consent agenda

Norm presented an addendum to the county’s lease with American Tower SpectraSite for the Rock Run tower site that reflects corrected, lowered antenna heights following an interference problem with another wireless provider. “The antenna height was just too high, and they just lowered it down,” Norm said, adding that the county’s radio consultant and the tower vendor reviewed the change and found it would not affect the county’s emergency radio service.
Commissioners discussed interference mitigation and acknowledged the county’s roughly $20 million radio system that supports emergency responders in areas without reliable cellular coverage. The board voted to add the contract addendum with American Tower SpectraSite to next week’s consent agenda.
