The Needham Select Board took several formal actions Tuesday evening.
The board approved an Eversource petition to install about 13 feet of conduit at 184 Brookline Street to serve a new house and signed the grant of location petition.
On capital financing, the board accepted MWRA assistance for a sewer realignment project and signed related documents; presenters said MWRA would provide roughly $3.4 million including a grant component and a 0% loan, reducing the town's repayable borrowing.
The board voted to close the 2026 annual town meeting warrant, subject to minor technical corrections by the town manager, town counsel and bond counsel. Certified citizen petitions that will appear on the warrant include zoning amendments for 888 Great Plain Avenue, a petition related to use of appropriated funds for Envision Needham Center (nonbinding), and a bylaw amendment to lower certain contract notification thresholds to $500,000 and add notice requirements for change orders.
Other votes: the board adopted a revised appointments protocol (SB Admin 003) that accommodates open‑meeting law constraints and allows subcommittees; it adopted special municipal employee status updates (removing a dissolved stormwater working group, adding Stephen Palmer's committee and school councils); and it referred zoning articles for 888 Great Plain Avenue to the Planning Board for review and hearing.
All motions described above carried by voice vote as recorded in the meeting record. The board adjourned at the end of the session.
