Administrators provided routine reports. Superintendent/administration updates noted a district teacher was nominated among state candidates for Minnesota Teacher of the Year; the district announced community curriculum review sessions and an American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (APAC) session. DECA competitors were listed in the agenda, with 11 students expected to participate in state competitions. A Pow Wow is scheduled for Feb. 28 at the high school with grand entry at 1:00 p.m., and the cabinet is reviewing a brand style guide (the update would not require spending, but could allow the use of red in certain circumstances).
Board leadership said the district has filed for mediation in teacher negotiations, with mediation scheduled in March, and that bargaining teams remain far apart. The board previewed upcoming work-session topics on superintendent goals and behavioral data to inform future agenda items.
