"We are pleased to announce that we met our fundraising goal and raised a total of $750 for the program," said Landon May, describing fundraising from popcorn Fridays, donations during a performance, and a movie night. The council thanked staff members who assisted with events.
Members also reported collecting 66 toys for a Toys for Tots drive and said they selected five raffle winners. Savannah Wittenback said the students visited Channel 1 in Rochester on Jan. 5 and "labeled and packaged 2,000 cans for distribution." The council credited those activities with giving students a chance to see the logistics behind local food distribution.
The students outlined upcoming activities including a Valentine’s Day fundraiser ("crush" cans for $1 and compliment cards), a school dress-up day, executive board elections with shadowing for newly elected officers, and planned attendance at the Southeastern Division Conference on Feb. 27 in Austin.
Board members thanked the students for their leadership and community service work.
