Council members debated whether to cancel the August work session scheduled for Aug. 18 after several members said they would be traveling. A motion was made to postpone the August work session and instead hold a work session immediately before the September council meeting; members then discussed conflicts with Sept. 2 and the potential for a long combined meeting.
Multiple councilors said they would be out of town on Aug. 18 and that combining the work session with the Sept. 2 meeting could make for an unreasonably long night because the September agenda likely would include building-permit applications. One councilor suggested holding the work session during the last week of August instead.
After checking members’ availability and consulting staff about the town attorney’s schedule, the council amended the motion to set the work session for Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m. The amendment was seconded and adopted by voice vote ('Aye'); the transcript records no roll-call tally. Members who said they could not be present on certain dates noted that they might still attend parts of a meeting but could not stay for extended sessions.
The council closed by moving to adjourn. The new work-session date was set; the transcript does not record whether the town attorney or staff formally confirmed availability after the vote.
