Forest Hills board adopts superintendent’s year‑end evaluation after closed‑session review

FOREST HILLS — The Forest Hills Board of Education entered a closed session at its June 4 special meeting to conduct the superintendent’s year‑end evaluation and, after returning to open session, voted to adopt the evaluation, board members said.

The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance and a note that public comment would be available later on the agenda. With no members of the public present, the board moved first to approve minutes from the May 19 meeting; an unnamed board member made the motion, it was seconded, and the board approved the minutes by voice vote.

The board then moved into a closed session to conduct the superintendent’s evaluation, the chair said, citing "MCL 15 2 68 1 a." After the closed session, the board returned to open session and the chair introduced a motion to adopt the superintendent’s year‑end evaluation. The board thanked a staff member named Ben for assembling the evaluation materials and for work during the year. The board took a roll call vote and adopted the evaluation.

During discussion of the evaluation, the chair said the board "went through each of the different sections and came out, that in every section that, Superintendent Kirby came out as effective." Superintendent Kirby spoke briefly to thank the board for its support and acknowledged the district team.

With no further board communications or other business, the chair adjourned the meeting.

The board did not announce any changes to contract terms, compensation, or next steps for public release during the open session.
