Evanston CCSD 65 asks families to submit student assignment form by March 1 as boundaries change

Evanston CCSD 65 asked families to complete a student assignment form by March 1 to confirm or request changes to student placements after the district said Kingsley and Bessie Road Schools will close and Foster School will open under new attendance boundaries for the 2026–27 school year.

An unidentified presenter for Evanston CCSD 65 said, "Kingsley and Bessie Road Schools will close at the end of this year and new attendance boundaries will take effect with the opening of Foster School." The district described the form as necessary "to provide families with placement options and to support accurate staffing and sectioning."

The district walked families through the PowerSchool Parent Portal steps: log in using the full email address as the username and your password; if you forget credentials, select "forgot username or password," and if no reset email arrives, contact the address the video provided (registrationinfodistrict65 dot net). Once logged in, select "Forms," open the "Enrollment" tab and choose "School Assignment Form."

On the form families will see the local area or home school based on the new 2026–27 attendance boundaries, the student's current school, and the new assigned school for 2026–27. The presenter also said the form will show placements for specialized programs; the transcript lists these as "TUI, ACC, STEP, RISE, bridal language."

Families must select one of three options: accept the new assigned school for 2026–27; request to return to their local/home school if the student is not currently attending it; or request a permissive transfer to a different school. The video said permissive transfers "are reviewed according to board policy" and that transportation is generally not provided except when required by policy.

After selecting an option the rest of the form populates; families must complete required fields and press "Submit" to finalize. The presenter said users may save and return later, but submissions must be completed by March 1 to be recorded. To complete forms for additional students, click the child's name at the top left of the PowerSchool screen and repeat the process.

For boundary maps, frequently asked questions and other guidance, the district directed families to the District 65 school transition hub. The video closed with a reminder: "Remember to submit the student assignment form by March 1."
