Poteau reports stronger January building-fund receipts, purchases two serving lines and readies electric buses
Summary
District finance staff reported January building-fund revenue up (possibly due to ad valorem timing), general-fund pressures from payroll and benefits, receipt of a partial meat grant for child nutrition (about $20,000), planned purchase of two serving lines (~$72,000), and expected delivery of two electric buses pending final inspections.

District finance staff reviewed January financials and capital items during the Poteau School Board meeting.
The presenter said building-fund revenue is currently up compared with last January, possibly due to ad-valorem timing of payments. General-fund year-to-date revenue is slightly down because of reduced state aid and federal ESSER funds but is partially offset by local receipts. Expenditures were described as higher for the month because of salaries and benefits and an earlier-year lump of capital spending.
On child nutrition, the presenter said the district received a partial meat grant in January—"over $20,000"—which raised that program’s revenue; the speaker noted a delayed OPA invoice affecting reported monthly expenditures. The district plans to purchase two serving lines, one for Pansy Kim Middle School and one for Upper Elementary, "it's roughly $72,000," the presenter said.
Facilities staff reported progress on construction of a weight-room addition (foundation slab poured) and said two new electric buses are in Oklahoma City for final inspections and are expected to be delivered and commissioned soon; the charging-station vendor has approved required information and the district awaits commissioning to schedule operations.
No objections to the encumbrances or these purchases were recorded during the discussion; related consent items and purchase orders were handled in the meeting’s consent process (financial report and encumbrances discussed SEG 230–SEG 359; facilities report SEG 735–SEG 756).
