Whatcom County staff warn meeting packets must meet new ADA accessibility requirements by April 26

Staff warned the steering committee that Whatcom County will soon require ADA‑accessible formats for documents posted on county websites, and that meeting packets and committee materials must comply.
Jill told members, "as of, I think, the date's April 26, Whatcom County will be required to meet certain ADA accessibility requirements for all of its documentation on its website." She said staff will conduct training, circulate tips and work with contributors to convert documents so packets can be included.
The change means agendas and supporting materials will appear differently and contributors should expect to spend time on accessibility adjustments. Jill asked members to plan for additional coordination when submitting items to the packet so staff can ensure compliance before materials are posted publicly.
Committee members acknowledged the transition may be difficult but agreed staff should begin sharing guidance to help authors comply with the new requirements.
