Harnett County commissioners approve unpaid-tax advertisement, staffing additions and infrastructure contracts

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — The Harnett County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine but consequential actions during its Feb. 10 meeting, including authorizing the advertisement of unpaid taxes, adding staff in social services and approving multiple contract and capital items.
The board voted to allow the tax department to advertise unpaid taxes for fiscal year 2025–2026 after staff presented a report of outstanding accounts. According to the meeting recap, "This was approved," indicating the board authorized the advertisement but the recap did not include a roll call or vote tally.
The board also approved a request from the Department of Social Services to add an additional Special Assistance in Home Program Social Worker II position. The request was presented to the board and approved during the county manager's report.
Other approvals included a request from the sheriff's office to let retiring deputies purchase their service weapons and a change order (No. 5) for the North Regional wastewater treatment plant associated with Adams Robinson, which Harnett Regional Water brought forward. The board approved a replacement of the hangar main door at Harnett Regional Jetport and approved a resolution and agreement described in the recap as relating to the conveyance or convenience of real property to "Good Hope."
