Edinburg, Texas — The Edinburg City Council opened the meeting by recognizing community achievements and concluded with a series of administrative approvals.
Council issued two proclamations: one congratulating the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros football program on its inaugural 2025 season and another honoring the late Coach David Chavanna with a city proclamation and presentation of a Texas House tribute and a state-capitol–flown flag to the family.
On administrative items, council authorized the city manager to renew a master service and small-government enterprise license with Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) for geographic information system services for an amount not to exceed $268,200. Council also awarded Bid No. 2026-02 for the Brennan Lane Cedar Detention Pond Phase 3 to 2 GS LLC for $216,162 using Community Development Block Grant funds (CDBG B-24-MC-48-0503).
Council approved a voluntary annexation petition for a 0.918-acre parcel at 1099 East FM 2812 as requested by Box Family Limited Partnership, and the body approved the consent agenda items a–j by motion.
Following an executive session addressing legal, personnel and economic-development matters, the council returned to open session and approved the agreement on the terms and conditions discussed in executive session (item 13d) as recommended by the city attorney.
