Council approves amendment reducing YMCA rent, shortening lease term

The Lebanon City Council approved a third amendment to the operating and lease agreement with the Ozarks Regional YMCA at its Feb. 9 meeting.
Troy explained the amendment would reduce annual rent paid by the Ozarks Regional YMCA from $90,000 to $50,000 to help the YMCA offset higher operating costs. The amendment also reduces the number of free senior days from three to at least one and changes the contract term to expire on June 30, 2027, shortening the previously possible long-term renewal period that had been allowed under earlier terms.
Council members discussed the need to plan for the civic center and community center components as the contract end date moves closer. "We need to probably step up and do some planning accordingly," Troy said, noting the earlier long potential term and the need to consider future arrangements for the civic center.
The council approved the amendment by roll call; the item was recorded as Council Bill 69-97 and became Ordinance 26-28.
Next steps: staff signaled that the shortened term will prompt planning work and more deliberate conversations about the civic center and YMCA operations going forward.
