Maricopa staff previews March 23 and April 27 general-plan meetings

City planning staff on Feb. 9 briefed the Planning and Zoning Commission on upcoming general-plan meetings and urged commissioners to report scheduling conflicts in advance.
Rick, a city staff member, said the next official discussion will be an off-site general-plan session at the library on March 23 at 6:00 p.m. and described it as a discussion-only meeting where a quorum (five commissioners expected) will still be required. He added that the April 27 meeting at City Hall, also at 6:00 p.m., will be the action meeting for the general plan.
Staff asked commissioners to advise city staff ahead of time if they cannot attend so arrangements can be made; the timeline is strict and staff emphasized staying on schedule. Chair Singleton noted he will be unavailable for the March 23 meeting because he is running for council and petition signature deadlines coincide with that date.
The staff notice sets expectations for commission availability ahead of the general plan’s review and for attendance planning to ensure quorum at both the discussion and action meetings.
