Torrington planners report enforcement activity; resubdivision hearing set and committee reappointments approved

At the Feb. 10 meeting, Torrington planning staff updated commissioners on several enforcement matters and routine administrative items.
Staff reported issuing citations and pursuing compliance at properties including 910 East Main Street (Dos Amigos), where unauthorized apartments were installed and fines have been accruing. The planner said the property owners have been subject to enforcement and were given time to appeal or seek waivers; "they've been getting daily fines for 2 months now," staff said.
Gianni's Auto Body was also cited for installing a spray booth and failing to complete required demolitions and inspections that were conditions of prior approvals; staff said the department is pursuing corrective action and will continue monitoring compliance.
Planner Jeremy Leifert said a public hearing is scheduled for February for a two‑lot resubdivision application at 1118 Highland Avenue (applicant Michael Wong). He also reported a city-planner-level approval for Site Plan No. 1583217 at Field Street for commercial equipment and material storage for a landscaping business; that approval follows enforcement work and staff said some items (fence slats, trailer removal) must be addressed at renewal.
The commission also voted to reappoint Mark Trevella and Robert Milletti to the Architectural Review Committee; the motion passed by voice vote.
