"Appraised value is $1,085,000," a commissioner said during the update, and county leaders reported having spoken with the appropriations chair and the budget director and that letters have been written to the governor and land board seeking assistance. The commissioner said preliminary conversations and an initial meeting with Culverton City Council suggest the Culverton Fire Department is interested in using the facility.
Separately, commissioners reported the county received a quarterly oil distribution of $1,062,000 for the quarter ending in September — the first quarterly total above $1 million since 2022 — and noted rising oil production in Roosevelt County. Officials explained that oil-distribution payments to school districts are allocated by mineral-interest location; examples cited included Bayville receiving just under $1,000,000 and another district receiving about $977,360.
County leaders said rising oil revenue could be one source to help with a facility purchase in Overton/Culverton, while acknowledging the need for additional conversations with state leaders and local stakeholders before any commitment.
