Villa Park unveils live projects dashboard; trustees request tree-removal list and links

Manager Rivas and village engineering staff said the dashboard is a work in progress and is already publicly available, but not yet linked from the village website. The demonstration included examples such as an apartment development at 27 West Park Boulevard and construction work at Albright Middle School (referenced as operating under a prior referendum).
Staff said the dashboard will allow residents to zoom to an address, filter by department (for example, Community Development or Public Works) and view short status descriptions. They proposed keeping completed projects visible for 12 months so residents can find recent project histories.
Trustees raised whether street projects, tree removals and other ongoing operations should appear. Staff said tree removals and annual tree-trimming zones are maintained on separate maps and spreadsheets because plotting every individual tree would overwhelm the dashboard. They said the village manages a roughly five-year trimming cycle and has averaged about 125–150 tree removals annually; staff suggested posting a simple spreadsheet of trees selected for removal so residents can see their status.
A resident at the microphone thanked the board for the update and said residents have had trouble finding tree and projects information; staff offered to circulate a direct link for residents and trustees to test the dashboard and provide feedback before wider rollout.
No formal decisions were made; staff said they would circulate a link to the dashboard with the manager’s permission and would explore posting a removal-list spreadsheet on the village website.
