Rio Rico FCCLA officers brief board on competitions and community service

High school FCCLA officers told the Santa Cruz Valley Unified board about upcoming state competitions, recent national qualification and community service projects including baking cookies for Ronald McDonald House and catering school events.
Students and staff presented on Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) activities during the board meeting. District staff member Mister Verdugo introduced the students and said FCCLA would provide a short presentation for the board.
Brianna Lilio, identifying herself as FCCLA president, said the chapter will compete at the state leadership conference in March and described two competition tracks: star events (which can lead to nationals) and proficiency events that are state‑level placements. "My name is Brianna Lilio, and I'm president of FCCLA club," she said; Daniela Osorio and Camila (vice president of community service) also spoke about competitions and service projects.
Students described recent successes—including state placings and a trip to nationals—and ongoing community service such as a monthly pop‑up collection to support Ronald McDonald House, baking 100 Christmas cookies for children, and preparing and serving lunch for local firefighters.
Board members thanked the students, praised the program as strong CTE (career and technical education) preparation and encouraged students to continue participating; several trustees noted the program gives students real‑world experience and congratulated officers for their awards.
No board action was taken on the FCCLA presentation; it was presented as part of recognition and student engagement on the agenda.
